"Östegårn" in Yg

This building from the later 1700 has been restored in the 1990s by Öhmans bygg under the supervision of carpenter Roland Åkerman. The whole building had taken the shape of "a banana" according to Christer Wallin who guided us this day. So the building had to be straightened up. The north shortside of the house, which is under pressure from water coming from the hillside, was damaged and logs had to be replaced on two sides of the building.

When a new house had been built some of the floors, doors etc had been moved so in some of the rooms temporary floors had been put in. But basically the house was intact as when the last owner lived there.

"Östegårn" in the village Yg near Färila was the destination for a trip with the Association for Building Preservation on april 19. A lot of people showed interest in this trip and some of the visitors came from Ockelbo and Matfors. They had come quite a way!
